Me: Yes I can, because I got an adapter for them.
Mom: Yeah, but how much did you end up spending on that adapter?
Me: $14
Mom: Hmm..
Me: Yeah?
Mom: That's less than a pizza.
Me: What are you talking about? How does that even compare?
Mom: Well, you know with the pizza you eat it and enjoy it for a little bit, but I guess this adapter will last longer than the pizza.
Me: What are you talking about?
Mom: That was my comparison with the pizza.

I was the camera operator for Kevin’s 35mm MFA thesis. This thing was BIG deal and I’ve been worried at how the footage would turn out…just because you never know with film.

I received this message today. Such an incredible relief for this year.

Karen’s eyes win again.

I can breathe again…until I shoot one of MY thesis next Friday.

So, today my Dad sat me down and talked to me about retinal detachment*. Apparently it is very prevalent in our family. He told me to be careful and take care of my eyes in case it is something that happens in the future, since I’m always straining my eyes for work.

I guess this is somewhat of a concern to me because every time I get my prescription for my glasses checked, my vision gets worse and worse. It’s gotten exponentially worse in the last 4 years…which i can accredit to film/editing in front of the computer for extended amounts of time as well as heavy lifting of film equipment (my Dad mentioned how this makes it worse). I also get migraines while I shoot 16mm and 35mm because I have to take my glasses off. I’ve been getting pretty bad headaches lately that make my eyes feel like they are pulsing. Hmmm….

*Retinal detachment is a disorder of the eye in which the retina peels away from its underlying layer of support tissue. Initial detachment may be localized, but without rapid treatment the entire retina may detach, leading to vision loss and blindness. It is a medical emergency.

What are some ways to take care of your eyes?

This song always makes me think of Austin, ever since the first time I heard it in college, sitting in his car in the parking lot behind Skelletones when we were on the way to the DAAC to see Anathallo and Bunkbed Nights.

I think that was the moment that I realized that I liked him a lot.

This is one of the struploads we did for fun this weekend in LA. I like this version more than the original Kings of Leon song. I guess context does that, but I only wish that my CF card for my 7D wasn’t full so I could’ve gotten better audio than that of the D90. But it’s alright, I still have this to enjoy.
