Leaf Yellow I’m in love with my X100. It takes some getting used to and is more difficult to use than an SLR, in my opinion, but I’m loving it.

The buttons and menu take some getting used to but I really love the fixed lens. I think 23mm was a good pick. The hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder is all sorts of magic.
Here are a couple photos I took with the x100 (JPG, not RAW…so imagine the possibilities there) that are pretty much straight out of the camera.

One of the things that amazes me about this camera is how it handles noise. Let’s take a look at this photo that I shot:

Before, it was backlit, silhouettey, and you can’t really make much out. But I brought it up in light room, and check out the before and after.

Also check it out zoomed in, not too shabby on the grain. (Also check out the post below this, where I took a photo at ISO 12800.

So overall, I love this camera. It’ll definitely take some practice and getting used to, but I am excited that this compact goody will essentially replace my Nikon D90 for taking photographs on a day to day. I love my D90, don’t get me wrong, but it’s quite cumbersome to have around all the time, also I like the limitation of having a fixed lens. Pushes you to get more interesting shots instead of relying on a 50mm F1.2 DoF bonanza crutch. But you know, use the right camera to serve your purpose, it doesn’t really matter. I enjoy this camera for a number of reasons, but it’s not going to make or break my photos. The photographer still does that.
This picture side by side of my 7D with a 24mm Nikkor and my x100 with a fixed 23mm is for Seb:
