Re: Some Chauncy Video Stuffs.

I appreciate everyone defending me, and saying nice things even to those people who left a bunch of chincy comments in the vein of, “Who is this girl, and who gives a fuck?” It doesn’t really bother me though. That’s the best part about creating, it’s so subjective. If everyone liked it, it could potentially be very boring (not necessarily). Bottom line is, all my Memory Bank videos are made for me and my friends (that play a direct or indirect part in them). Since I started taking a certain kind of medication in the last year and a half, I’ve been losing my short term memory. So I figured, an easy way for me to cling onto memories I’m losing is to record them. So I’m not making them to impress people, and they aren’t supposed to be of any high production value. They are just like little tidbits of life I want to remember. My life isn’t that interesting, but it’s meaningful to me.

Not everyone is going to like what you create, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Steve Weiss and Philip Bloom critique my video on Critics: Webisode 5.

(Their critique starts at around 11:30, if you want to fast forward.) It was good. I really enjoy this series. It’s kinda random that they picked this video out of all the ones I’ve done since it was so long and just a vlog more so for me and a few people rather than one of my shorts. But either way, I liked what they both had to say.

So we finally wrapped Grace. It was a really good, albeit stressful, experience. I was really able to exercise what I’ve learned about being a Director of Photography, thus far, and had my incredible camera/light/grip crew fight this beast of burden with me. Not only was I able to give direction to a camera crew that trust me, but also to one that I trust, entirely. I am eternally grateful to my camera operator, Dylan, my gaffer, Luis, my best boy/key grip, Raman, and my electrician/grip, Katelin. Without them, my cinematography wouldn’t have come to fruition.
Next shoot: Three 35mm short shorts next Wednesday-Sunday.

To view still frames from the shoot visit my MFA blog or the set on flickr (which I will add production stills to as well).
This 15 minute film is Vitor’s MFA in Screenwriting Thesis film. It was shot with two Canon 5Dmii cameras with Canon L series and Nikon prime lenses. It was lit and shaped with a two four bank and two two bank Kinos, two 2ks, two 650s, two 300s, a china ball, silks, flags, and double and single nets.

Leaf Yellow I think it’s really cute when my friends notice my sketches, illustrations, or photographs floating around online. What’s not cute is not getting credit where the images are linked from. This happens far too often. Of course this little doodle is nothing, I don’t really mind at all. But I do mind when bigger company’s blogs or magazines use my photographs without my permission. I guess I could put some abrasive ugly watermark on them, but I don’t really want to detract from the images. The only thing worse than this is when people download my videos and upload them as their own all over youtube…especially when they take the time to edit out any (and often times sparce) credits I have on them. Another bad case is when people take my illustrations, put them on shirts and sell them. Poeple are crazy and I probably need a lot of money and a good lawyer in the future.
Anyway, this drawing was from this series.

This is what I feel like the day before I DP a big shoot.

But the 5 hours before I shoot, I feel like this.
